Caroline Barberio joined Mission Ventures in 2003.  Ms. Barberio is a certified public accountant with 19 years of experience in accounting and financial management in San Diego firms.

Ms. Barberio began her career in 1985 as an auditor for the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche.  Ms. Barberio has held management positions in the accounting departments of Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, Sithe Energies, Inc., and Applied Molecular Evolution, Inc.; and in 1995, became the Chief Financial Officer of the Del Mar Fairgrounds, where she led a $50 million public offering of debt before joining the Corporate Accounting department of Stratagene.  Following Stratagene, Ms. Barberio was the Vice President of Finance for Sorrento Associates, Inc., a San Diego Venture Capital Firm. 

Most recently, Ms. Barberio was the Chief Financial Officer of Perlan Therapeutics, a San Diego based innovator of protein-based pharmaceuticals.  Ms. Barberio received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Accounting from San Diego State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
