David Metzler joined Mission Ventures in March 2007. He is actively involved in analyzing potential investment prospects as well as helping Mission’s portfolio companies plan and achieve strategic business goals. Prior to joining Mission Ventures, Mr. Metzler worked with CIBC World Markets with both public and private companies in all facets of corporate finance. While at CIBC, he worked on over $626 million of mergers and acquisitions advisory assignments and over $2 billion of capital raising transactions.
Mr. Metzler's broad investment banking experience includes working with companies in several industries such as aerospace, defense, industrial, media, telecommunications, and technology. Before entered the financial arena, David served five years in the Navy as a decorated Rescue Swimmer and Air Traffic Controller based primarily in San Diego.
After leaving the service, David attended Columbia University in New York, graduating with a degree in Economics and emphasis in Philosophy. While simultaneously achieving his degree at Columbia, Mr. Metzler worked with Jeffrey Sachs at the Earth Institute where he utilized interdisciplinary studies such as statistical and economic regressionary tools to evaluate risk analysis in third world countries
